Duwe, Whitsitt pace Decorah girls

Playing halves in place of quarters in Wisconsin rules, the Decorah girls’ basketball team (1-1, 0-0 NEIC) picked up a road win Tuesday over Prairie du Chien, 76-61.
“I was pleased with our performance against a very competitive team,” noted Coach Shannon Quandahl.
The Vikes put together a 40-34 first half lead and extended their advantage in the second half for the victory.

   The Vikes put together a 40-34 first half lead and extended their advantage in the second half for the victory.
   Senior Bryar Duwe poured in 24 points for Decorah and Yazmeen Whitsitt added 23 in the Viking win. Also in double figures with 10 apiece were Kylie O’Hara and Autumn Schaller in the balanced-scoring affair. Brooklyn Fromm came off the bench to knock down seven with Mya Redenius adding the final two to the score sheet.
   Decorah is on the road again Saturday, Dec. 3, as the Vikings take on Center Point-Urbana at 3:30 p.m. The Lady Vikings will have their first home game Tuesday, Dec. 6, versus Mason City at 7:30 p.m.
