Early deficit costly for SW boys

By Becky Walz,

After falling behind early, the South Winn boys’ basketball team (5-4, 4-2 UIC) couldn’t make up the difference, falling at Class 2A No. 10 MFL MarMac (9-0, 6-0 UIC) Tuesday night, 83-72.
The Warriors went down 26-16 after the first eight minutes. That lead was extended to 43-29 at halftime. The Bulldogs remained in front, holding a 63-41 advantage after three frames. Despite a big 31-point final period, the Warriors were unable to pull out front, giving up the conference game.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
South Winn will be at Clayton Ridge Friday, Jan. 6, then starts next week on the road at Central Elkader Tuesday, Jan. 10. Both games will tip off at approximately 7:30 p.m.
