The Decorah bowling teams suffered their first losses of the season Tuesday, Dec. 21, at West Delaware.
It was a close finish for the girls’ team who lost by 21 pins to the Hawks, 2,187 to 2,166. Baker game scores were 132, 127, 145, 121 and 143.
At the forefront of the Viking pack were Grace Gerleman, Rebecca Bruening and Sydney Hageman. Gerleman produced games of 180 and 170, while Bruening fired games of 136 and 160. On the lanes with 120 and 173 games was Hageman. Other keglers competing for the girls were Lily Iverson (133, 150), Paige Lange (141, 135) and Hannah Schnitzler (131, 118).
The junior varsity girls picked up their fifth win of the season 1,691 to 1,523. Leading the way were Chloe Chyles (302), Addison Wicklund (219) and Anika Grinna (219).
The boys’ team went down to the Hawks 2,762 to 2,530, moving its record to 4-1. Baker game scores were 170, 224, 161, 131 and 167.
Leading the way with scores of 209 and 170 in his first varsity meet was Easton Luzum. Brody Anfinson wasn’t too far back with games of 209 and 135. Also on the lanes for Decorah were Gavin Sims (161, 171), Cade Averhoff (158, 153), Grady Brauer (164, 136) and Eliot Kleckner (136, 176).
In JV action, the Viking boys moved to 5-0 with a win over West Delaware, 2,431 to 2,084. At the front of the pack were Mason Hill (353) and Will Marx (334).
The holidays are now upon the Vikings who will not see a competition match until Friday, Jan. 7, as they host Charles City at 4 p.m.
