Five members of the Decorah softball team were named to the all-Northeast Iowa Conference softball list released recently.
First team
For the third time in her career, senior Avery Shelton received first team accolades. As the Vikings’ primary pitcher, Shelton stepped into the circle 17 times for a 13-4 record. In her 106 innings of work, she produced a 2.64 earned run average (ERA), giving up 40 earned runs and striking out 111 batters. With a .452 batting average, Shelton was second on the team in hitting and had a .518 on-base percentage. In her 73 at-bats, she knocked out 33 hits, including six home runs and eight doubles and drove in a team-high 30 runs.
Leading the Vikes with a .500 average, Kittelson moves from a second team designation as a junior to the first team all-NEIC. The senior had an on-base percentage of .585 and a .628 slugging mark. Kittelson tagged the ball for 39 hits in her 78 at-bats, coming away with eight doubles and one triple. She had 24 RBI as well.
Isabel Ihde jumps from second to first team this season on the all-NEIC lists. In her 60 at-bats, the first baseman connected for 23 hits, including six doubles and a triple, driving in 20 runs for the Vikes. Ihde ended her career with a .383 average during her senior campaign and had a .390 on-base percentage. She also was 8-for-8 in stolen bases.
Second team
Shortstop/pitcher Emma Johnson received a second team nod this season after being named an honorable mention a year ago. The senior performed nine times in the circle for a 5-3 record and 3.50 ERA. At the plate, Johnson had a .294 average and .390 on-base percentage. She had 25 hits for the Vikings, including two doubles in her 85 at-bats, driving in 16 runs.
Honorable mention
Ellie Luzum received her second All-NEIC nod for her play in the outfield and production in the batter’s box. The junior had a .246 average with a .378 on-base percentage and .369 slugging mark. Luzum had 16 hits on the season with a home run, a double and two triples, providing 12 RBI. She was also second on the team in stolen bases with 11.
