Keglers sweep Sumner-Fred

It was a big night for the bowling program as boys the girls and boys picked up victories Tuesday, Nov. 23, in the season opener at Skyline Lanes.
Facing Sumner-Fredericksburg, the girls produced a score of 2,240 to S-F’s 1,877. Baker scores for the Vikes were 162, 164, 161, 130 and 125.
Grace Gerleman produced a big night. She had a 148 and 182 to lead the way. Lily Iverson also was strong with a 162 and 157. Other Viking scores were Rebecca Bruening (124, 168), Paige Lange (137, 147), Hannah Schnitzler (137, 136) and Sydney Hageman (134, 131). 
The junior varsity also scored a win by over 500 pins, led by Chloe Chyles (328), Adrianna Marsh (275) and Hailey Bower (258).
The boys easily handled the Cougars as well, besting the visitors 2,881 to 2,124. Decorah’s baker scores were 170, 200, 192, 179 and 182.
Cade Averhoff paced the Vikes with scores of 192 and 255, while Karter Einck produced games of 254 and 154. Also on the lanes for Decorah were Mason Hill (190, 188), Emmit Stemper (217, 153), Gavin Sims (185, 170) and Grady Brauer (146, 145).
Led by Tom Esslemont (444), Brendon Hunter (437) and Brody Anfinson (352), the Viking junior varsity squad also won, 2,803 to 1,601.
The keglers will travel to Waukon Friday, Dec. 3, at 4 p.m.
