A trio of bowlers finished their season Wednesday at the Class 2A state bowling championships representing Decorah in Waterloo at Maple Lanes.
Junior Will Marx fired games of 174, 211 and 236 for a 621 total to complete the day in 16th in the finals.
“Will took too long to figure out the shot,” said Coach Keith Bruening. “He had a great season and was a complete surprise as he ended the season in style with the high average on the team near 194.”
Two girls also stepped onto the lanes in Waterloo — Grace Gerleman and Rebecca Bruening. Gerleman concluded her career on the big state with games of 156, 201 and 190, while Bruening, a junior, rolled a 193, 133 and 162 in the final event of the 2021-22 season.
“The girls did a nice job in the finals though the oil pattern was a tricky shot, and neither could string the strikes together needed to score big,” noted Coach K. Bruening. “We are awful proud of these two girls as they bowled well enough to give Decorah some pride. We wish Grace good luck on her future plans and are excited for Rebecca’s senior season.”
