The Decorah girls’ track and field team packed up and headed south Saturday to partake in the J-Hawk Relays at Kingston Stadium in Cedar Rapids, finishing fifth.
Turning in the Vikes best performances were Bella Knutson and Kallie Mincks, both finishing runner-up in hurdle events. Knutson completed the 100-meter hurdle event in 16.80 seconds, while Mincks crossed the 400-meter hurdle race in 1:13.97. Also scoring points for Decorah in the 100 hurdles was Anya Lovstuen, stopping the clock at 17.60 seconds, good for fourth place.
Knutson, Lovstuen, Lani Hubka and Autumn Schaller teamed on for a time of 1:13.50, to give the Vikings points in fourth place at the conclusion of the shuttle hurdle relay.
Two other Vikings collected fourth place finishes with Chloe Reiser throwing the shot put 36’3” and Rebecca Anderson racing to the finish line in 5:17.74 in the 1500 meters.
This week
Decorah will be on the road again Tuesday, April 6, at Dubuque Senior at 4 p.m., then hosts its first invitation Thursday, April 8, at 5 p.m.
