Lady Trojans runner-up at N-P

The track and field teams of Turkey Valley loaded up to compete at the Nashua-Plainfield co-ed invite Tuesday night with the girls’ returning to Jackson Junction as the team runner-up with 136 points. The hosts claimed the top spot with 150 points. In the boys’ team standings, the Trojans collected 35 points to garner a fifth-place finish as Central Springs ran away with 190 points for the team title.

Four golds for Blazek
In all the Trojan girls’ team collected five top finishes, with Jalyssa Blazek claiming two individual titles in addition to being a member of two winning relays.
The junior broke the tape in the 400-meter dash in 1:06.55 and added the 800-meter run win in 2:36.57. Blazek combined with Josie Weber, Jaycie Byrne and Cambree Kruse in the 4×800 relay to top the field in 11:17.36, after starting the night as the anchor of the sprint medley relay. In the early sprint medley race it was Kara Reicks, Clare Courtney and Olivia Snyder going for gold in 2:02.35. Also winning gold was the 4×200 relay quartet of Courtney, Snyder, J. Weber and Byrne in a time of 1:59.55.
Five other events were the runners-up including Snyder in the 100-meter dash (14.52), Byrne in the 3000-meter run (12:25.09), the shuttle hurdle relay (1:26.41), 4×100 relay (55.53) and distance medley relay (5:11.65).

Trojan top performers
It was Marcus Herold coming away with the top finish for the boys in the shot put. The junior hoisted the weight 37 feet even to claim silver. Kalvin Langreck was the only other Trojan to finish in the top three, claiming bronze in the 800-meter run. The senior crossed the finish line in 2:21.13.

Next competitions
The next time the Trojans will be on the oval is tonight (Thursday, April 15) at New Hampton at a co-ed meet set to begin at 5 p.m. Friday, April 16, the varsity girls will race at Aplington-Parkersburg at 4:30 p.m. The girls will return to New Hampton Monday, April 19, for a 5 p.m. meet.
