Kee sprang into action in the first, disrupting the Trojan offense with numerous steals to lead 13-11 at the end of the first. In the second period, it was Turkey Valley’s turn to show what it’s defense could do, as the Trojans shut out the Hawks to lead 19-13 at the halftime. Jacqlyn Schmitt was the big point-getter of the period, scoring six of the Trojans’ eight points in the second. After the break, TV began to distance itself from the visitors, doubling the Hawks’ effort 12-6 to lead 31-19 with eight minutes to play.
“Kee jumped out to a quick start, and it took us awhile to settle in offensively. Fortunately, our defense did a great job throughout the game especially holding them scoreless in the second quarter,” said Coach Carla Nymeyer. “Jacqlyn (Schmitt) and Kara (Reicks) were huge on the boards and Jac carried us down low as she held her own even though Kee was collapsing on her. Jalyssa (Blazek) once again was a huge difference as she did a fantastic job guarding (Reagan) Mudderman. Great to see all the girls playing with intensity and determination to advance their season.”
The Trojans were led by Jacqlyn Schmitt who scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Kara Reicks had 10 points and 10 boards, along with four assists and two steals. Dropping in five points to go with six rebounds, two steals, two assists and two blocks was Jalyssa Blazek.
