Lynx end South Winn’s run

By Becky Walz,

It was a heck of a season for the South Winn boys’ basketball team, putting together a 14-9 overall record, a 12-4 conference mark and finishing second in the UIC.
However, that right came to an end Thursday night in Coggen as the Warriors fell to No. 2 North Linn on the road, 97-64.
North Linn (22-0) will face Maquoketa Valley (16-7) in the Class 1A district final Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m.
The Warriors came out strong Thursday but North Linn was even better as the home team wrapped up the first period with a 25-19 lead. By halftime the Lynx extended their advantage to 46-35 in the face-paced action. Down the stretch in the second half, North Linn continued to flow as it outscored the Warriors 51-29.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
South Winn graduates three big contributors in Dawson Wenthold, Carson Wenthold and Keagen Streeter.
