Postseason basketball assignments

Brackets for Classes 1A, 2A and 3A have been released for the road to the girls’ state basketball tournament, as well as the boys’ brackets.
Decorah girls are in Class 4A, while the boys are in Class 3A. The girls are still waiting to see who they will face.

Girls’ basketball
South Winn is in Class 2A, competing in region 4. The Warriors will host Starmont Saturday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m., in the first round. The winner will face Aplington-Parkersburg Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in Aplington. The semifinal game is Friday, Feb. 18, at Aplington-Parkersburg at 7 p.m., with the regional final Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m., at a site to be determined. Other teams in the region include Clayton Ridge, Postville, Denver, MFL MarMac and Sumner-Fredericksburg.
Turkey Valley is in Class 1A Region 4 and will host Kee High in the first round Thursday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the regional quarterfinal versus the Central Elkader and Tripoli winner Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m., in Elkader. The regional semifinal is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. at East Buchanan, with the regional final to be played Wednesday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m., at a site to be determined. Additional teams in region 4 include Maquoketa Valley, Marquette Catholic, North Linn, Calamus-Wheatland, Easton Valley, Prince of Peace, Midland, East Buchanan, Edgewood-Colesburg, Central City and West Central.
The state tournament runs February 28 through March 5, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

Boys’ basketball
Both South Winn and Turkey Valley will compete in Class 1A District 6. Decorah is in Class 3A Substate 2.
On the road to state, the Vikings will begin with Crestwood at home Monday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. Decorah will host the substate semifinal Thursday, Feb. 24. If the Vikes win, they will play either Iowa Falls-Alden or Charles City. The substate final will be held at Aplington-Parkersburg Monday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. Other teams in the bracket include Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont, Waverly-Shell Rock and Webster City.
The Warriors will face Kee High Monday Feb. 14, at 7 p.m., in Lansing. The winner will face one of three teams — Central Elkader, Starmont or Edgewood-Colesburg in the district semifinal Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m., in Edgewood. 
The Trojans will face Clayton Ridge in the quarterfinal to start the postseason Monday, Feb. 14, at 6:30 p.m., at Wapsie Valley. The winner will advance to compete against either Wapsie Valley or West Central Thursday, Feb. 17, at 7 p.m., at Wapsie Valley. 
The district final is Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., at a site to be determined, with substate set for Saturday Feb. 26.
The top eight teams from each class will advance to the 2022 state tournament March 7-11, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
