Silvercrest champs named

Silvercrest hosted their annual Men’s Club Championship Sunday, Aug. 27. The course was stressed and dry due the summer drought, but the weather was a perfect 78 degrees with low wind. Due to recent watering, the greens were receptive and rolling faster than they had all season.
Seventeen participants played 18-holes of stroke play to determine final 9-hole pairings for the championship. Scratch scores were used to determine the leaderboard outcome. Round one was played from the white tees and rounds two and three were played from the blue tees for those under 60; those with 60 and over played red, white tees.
After the completion of 27 holes in the Championship Standings Men’s Division the scratch score results and placing were as follows: 1st, Todd Neal (41-36-28=105); 2nd, Mike Huinker (39-38-36=113); 3rd, Dave Noack (39-39-39=117); 4th, Jesse Quandahl (44-38-38=120); and 5th, Tom Hovey (39-35-47=121).
The handicap division was decided after 18 holes. The winner was Andy Rix with a scratch score of 81 adjusted score 71.
The Women’s Club Championship was hosted Wednesday, Aug. 2, and was flighted. Earning first in the first flight was Alyce Schaller with a pair of 46 rounds. Deb Rima tallied rounds of 51 and 44 to finish second in the first flight. Winning the second flight was Connie White (56-52) with Susie McConnell as the runner-up.
Kasen Tyler was the junior club champion in the 10-15 age group while Ben Bockman was the winner of the 16-21 age group.
