Six area athletes named to All-UIC girls basketball list

Four of the five starters for the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team, along with two starters for South Winn, were named to the Upper Iowa Conference all-conference girls basketball list.

Four of the five starters for the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team, along with two starters for South Winn, were named to the Upper Iowa Conference all-conference girls basketball list.

First team all-UIC
Trojan junior Jacqlyn Schmitt was a unanimous first-team selection from the coaches of the Upper Iowa Conference. She was one of four unanimous choices. For the season, Schmitt led the team in points scored with 368, averaging 16.0 a night, which was third-best in the conference. She pulled down 153 rebounds for the year to go with 48 steals and 14 blocked shots.

Second team
TV seniors Jalyssa Blazek and Kara Reicks were second team selections, after being on the honorable mention list last year.
Blazek contributed 186 points, putting up 8.1 a game. She pulled down 99 total rebounds, to go with 74 steals and 46 assists.
Reicks scored 185 points, averaging 8.0 per game and led the Trojans and was second in the UIC in steals with 86, as well as assists with 74. Reicks also snared 91 rebounds, good for third on the TV squad.

Honorable mention
For Turkey Valley, junior Aubrey Hoffert was honored for the first time.
Hoffert scored 146 points, averaging 6.3 per game. She pulled down 75 rebounds, to go with 31 steals, 12 assists and 12 blocked shots.
For the Warriors, senior Janessa Zweibahmer and junior Morgan Kleve were named honorable mention for the first time in their careers.
Zweibahmer led the team with 184 points, averaging 8.4 a game. She also led the way in total rebounds, with 186 total and a 8.5 average. She had a team-high 48 steals to go with 14 assists and seven blocked shots.
Kleve was second in scoring with a 8.1 points per game average. She scored 179 total points on the year. Kleve was third in rebounds with 108, pulling down 4.9 a night. She also had 26 steals and 13 steals.
