Back on track
Consistent scoring throughout the game led to a victory Tuesday, Dec. 19, with the Warriors defeating Postville (8-3, 5-3 UIC) on the road 81-62.
“It was nice to get back in the win column,” said Coach Taylor. “With the injury/illness bug mostly behind us we were able to get back to playing South Winn basketball. We were able to generate points in transition and in the half court. We shot the three-ball well which spaced the floor, and we were more aggressive on the interior attacking the basket while defensively we created some turnovers on the press.”
A big first half set the Warriors up for victory as South Winn built a 24-15 lead in the first and pushed ahead 44-23 at the half.
The Pirates cut into the lead in the third, outscoring the Warriors 24-20 but it wasn’t enough as SW rolled on to victory.
Kole Hageman and Matson Winings had monster games for the Warriors. Hageman drained 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds and five steals, while Winings poured in 25 points to go with five rebounds and two steals. Carson Streeter had the quick hand to come away with seven steals.
