Split for Trojan softball at Kee High

The Turkey Valley softball team (10-7, 7-1 UIC) completed with an UIC split with Kee and competed in a tournament at New Hampton Saturday.

Conference split
The Trojans traveled to New Albin Wednesday and returned to Jackson Junction with a split decision with the Kee High Hawks. After giving the Hawks a 5-2 lead in the first, TV narrowed the gap again with a run in the second. The hosts strung together some hits in the third and fourth for an 8-3 advantage. Mounting a comeback, the Trojans managed to plate two runs in the fifth before ending their quest, 8-5.
Josie Weber suffered the loss despite her 12 strikeouts. The Trojans garnered five hits in the contest were led by Kara Reicks’ two and four stolen bases.
TV returned to the diamond with determination, plating single runs in the first and second innings. In the seventh, the Trojans added a pair of insurance runs, before giving up their first tally of the game to the Hawks. When the final out was recorded, the Red and White came away with the 4-1 victory.   
Winning the nightcap on the mound was Aleah Hackman, giving up one run on three hits and striking out six. TV connected for nine hits. This time it was J. Weber coming up with a multi-hit game including a double.

Tough day at NH
After earning a split against Kee Wednesday, the Trojans traveled to New Hampton Saturday to take part in a tournament.
The Trojans battled Denver (11-9) first, falling 7-3.
The Trojans had six hits in the contest. Hackman blistered the ball for a triple, while Reicks, Jalyssa Blazek, Brianna Busta and Olivia Drilling made contact for hits.
J. Weber took the loss in the circle. She went six innings, giving up nine hits and striking out four.
Game two saw the Trojans looking for some offense with the Trojans dropping the contest, 10-5 to New Hampton (6-13).
Hackman threw for the six innings for TV, shouldering the loss with nine hits and five strikeouts.
At the plate, the Trojans had seven hits. Blazek had a dinger in the sixth and tallied three RBI. J. Weber and Hackman provided doubles. Reicks and Aubrey Hoffert each connected for two singles as well.
TV ended the day with an extra-inning 8-7 loss to Nashua-Plainfield (6-12). 
After trailing 6-3 into the fifth, the Trojans strung hits together to plate three runs and knot the score. TV added a run in the top of the eighth to take the lead; however, the Trojans were unable to hold N-P as the Huskies drove in two runs for the win.
Leading TV in the batter’s box with a triple and single was Reicks. Slapping out a double and driving in three runs was Hackman, while J. Weber and Olivia Snyder also had hits for the Trojans.

This week 
It’s a full week of games for the Lady Trojans that began with South Winn Monday night at home. The rest of the week TV will be on the road, visiting MFL MarMac for a varsity doubleheader Wednesday, June 23 at 5:30 p.m., and Crestwood Thursday, June 24 for a JV/varsity twinbill.
