Getting on their home field the Turkey Valley Trojans (16-10, 12-2 UIC) came away with a conference split versus North Fayette Valley (10-14, 7-5 UIC) Monday, winning 7-2 and dropping a 6-2 contest.
Jumping on the board early, the Trojans were out from 3-0 before the TigerHawks could get some traction to plate their first run in the fourth inning. TV added three more in the bottom of the fourth and one in the sixth before giving up one in the seventh.
There were seven hits spread out. Josie Weber had three of them, three RBI and a stolen base. Sophia Adams had two singles and two stolen bases, while Kara Reicks had the other two hits.
J. Weber gave up one earned run on 1 hit and struck out eight.
The Trojan offense couldn’t get the hits to roll together in game two, scoring just two runs in the fifth frame. Aleah Hackman led the offense with two hits, including a double and drove in two runs. J. Weber had two hits as well with a double.
Saddled with the loss was Hackman with three earned runs on seven hits and one strikeout.
This week
The Trojans hosted Postville Wednesday and will finish the regular season Friday, July 2, at Riceville at 5 p.m. Turkey Valley will be at Nashua-Plainfield to take on the Huskies in first round regional action Tuesday, July 6, at 7 p.m.
