State qualifying meet sites for cross country were announced this week.
Girls and boys run at the same site, with the Class 3A and 4A races taking place Wednesday, Oct. 23, and the Class 1A and 2A on the courses Thursday, Oct. 24. The girls race starts at 4 p.m., with the boys at 4:30 p.m.
In Classes 2A, 3A and 4A, the first three teams, plus the first 15 individual place winners from each site qualifies for the state meet. The first two teams, plus the first 10 individual place winners will qualify for the state meet from each of the Class 1A state qualifying meets.
Decorah is in Class 3A and will be at Waverly-Shell Rock. Besides the Vikings and Go-Hawks those competing will be BK-CGD, Clear Creek-Amana, Charles City, Clear Lake, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Mount Vernon/Lisbon South Tama County, Wahlert Catholic, Webster City and Williamsburg.
South Winn and Turkey Valley are both in Class 1A and will compete at North Linn. Joining the Lynx, Warriors and Trojans on the course will be Cascade, Central City, Central Elkader, Clayton Ridge, Columbus Catholic, Columbus Community, Don Bosco, Dunkerton, East Buchanan, Edgewood-Colesburg, Kee, Maquoketa Valley, Springville, Starmont (girls), Tripoli, Valley Lutheran and Waterloo Christian.
The state meet is held as a two-day event with Class 3A and 4A competing Friday, Nov. 1, followed by the Class 1A and 2A on Saturday, Nov. 2.
