SW boys put up strong effort

Although the South Winn boys’ basketball team (8-8, 6-5 UIC) played well as a team, it didn’t translate into a win as the Warriors fell to North Fayette Valley (10-5, 8-4 UIC) Tuesday night on the road, 60-49.

Although the South Winn boys’ basketball team (8-8, 6-5 UIC) played well as a team, it didn’t translate into a win as the Warriors fell to North Fayette Valley (10-5, 8-4 UIC) Tuesday night on the road, 60-49.
The Warriors went ahead 13-11 in the first period before getting outscored 21-10 in the second period and were left trailing 33-23 at the break. SW worked to no avail to cut into the TigerHawk lead in the second half.
Leading South Winn on the floor with 14 points and three steals was Carson Wenthold. Trey Kriener finished the night with 12 points and 11 boards, while Keagen Streeter added 10 points and six rebounds.
South Winn hit the hardwood at West Central Thursday, Jan. 27 in a make-up game, then travel to Central Elkader Friday, Jan. 28. Next week will kick off at Turkey Valley, Tuesday, Feb. 1.
