Early touchdowns by the offense, combined with the defense provided the South Winn football team (2-2, 2-1) all the ingredients for a win over Starmont (0-4, 0-3) Friday night on the road, 48-20.
The Warriors scored 35 first-half points.

How it happened
South Winn took the early lead and didn’t let go. The Warriors drove down the field with Keagen Streeter running the ball the final five yards for the score, then taking the two-point rush, putting South Winn up 8-0. Parker Timp capped off the Red and Gray’s second touchdown for five yards where the two-point attempt failed. The junior later picked off a Starmont pass for a 25-yard return to the end zone. Combined with K. Streeter’s PAT, the Warriors led 21-0 after the opening quarter.
In the second, Brady Ohrt found an open Nolan Sabelka down the field on a pass route for a 43-yard touchdown. The junior quarterback, Ohrt, later added his own three-yard plunge into the end zone for the Warriors which allowed the visitors a 35-0 lead. Starmont countered with a 15-yard pass before time expired for the break.
Ohrt went to the air again in the third, this time it was to K. Streeter on a 20-yard pass, pulling South Winn even further out front, 42-7. K. Streeter wasn’t done yet as he returned an interception 15-yards in the fourth period. The Stars managed to score twice in the final quarter but didn’t have what it took to mount the comeback.

Highlights
The Warriors rushed for 274 yards and passed for another 63 for 337 yards of total offense.
Timp rushed 17 times for 117 yards, a 6.9 yards per carry average. K. Streeter picked up 97 yards while Ohrt ran nine times for 32 yards. Ohrt threw three times, completing two for 63 yards.
Leading the defense was K. Streeter and Timp as well with both having four solo tackles and two assisted stops. Ohrt was there for three solo tackles and two assists. Brody Tieskoetter had a fumble recovery and an interception. Sabelka, K. Streeter and Timp also had interceptions.
“We got off to a nice start again offensively as our offensive line did a nice job of communicating the multiple fronts we were seeing from Starmont early on and our backs ran tough,” said Coach Jason Ohrt. “Parker Timp had his best game carrying the football. Defensively, we made some big plays forcing five turnovers and scoring two touchdowns off interceptions. We won the kicking game battle again this week as well. Overall, this was another nice win.”

Homecoming
