SW girls end season with No. 15 Falcons

For the second year in a row the South Winn girls’ basketball team (7-15) fell to No. 15 Aplington-Parkersburg (18-4) in the regional playoffs Tuesday, Feb. 14, on the road, ending its 2022-23 season.
A-P busted out of the first quarter to claim a 24-14 lead from which South Winn never recovered. Trailing by 21 at the halfway point, the Warriors couldn’t claw in contention in the third quarter down 61-32, but the Falcons kept them at bay to run away with the game.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.
The Warriors graduate Hailey Riehle, Alison Heying, Morgan Kriener, Josie Hemesath, Morgan Kleve and Giselle Flores, with nine other who put on a varsity jersey this season.
