SW girls fall to A-P 80-21 to close out season

There was no answer that the South Winn girls’ basketball team could come up with as it faced No. 15 Aplington-Parkersburg in the regional quarterfinal Tuesday night, falling 80-21.

The Falcons (16-6) advance to face Osage (19-3) Friday, Feb. 18, in the regional semifinal.
South Winn ends the season with an 8-14 record.
“It was a tough game as we ran into a really good basketball team, and they shot lights out. We can’t use last night’s game to determine how our season went. We saw improvements all throughout the season and I am super proud of the progress we made and hope to continue to make even more progress in the off-season,” said Coach Justin Izer.
A-P blazed out to a 23-4 lead in the first period and kept building its advantage throughout the contest. At the break, the Falcons were out front 47-11 with the game clearly in hand.
Senior Janessa Zweibahmer paved the way for the Warriors with nine points and eight rebounds. Morgan Kleve added eight points and two boards. With two points apiece were Hailey Riehle and Morgan Kriener. Kriener was also there for four rebounds, while Riehle had two. With three boards apiece were Alison Heying and Josie Tieskoetter.
