The South Winn girls’ wrestling team took ninth Tuesday at the Cougar Invite, hosted by Sumner-Fredericksburg as the Warriors finished the night with 31 points and one individual champion. Senior Kaydn Meyer was the lone Warrior to climb to the top of the podium, winning the title at 125 pounds. Following a quarterfinal bye, Meyer threw Lanie Hanna of Saint Ansgar in 3:47 in the semifinals. In the finals, the Warrior claimed the 4-2 decision over Central’s Taylor Moser.
Abby Wagner also scored points for South Winn, finish sixth at 130 pounds.
South Winn will be on the mats at Decorah Thursday, Jan. 18, i at 5:30 p.m. The Warriors then travel to Mason City for a tournament Saturday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m.
