SW leads UIC with undefeated mark

The South Winn Warrior volleyball team (9-16, 5-0 UIC) maintained their undefeated record in conference play with a sweep at Postville on Thursday evening, 3-0. 
The Warriors dominated the first two sets winning 25-10 and 25-12, but Postville didn’t go down without a fight as they played the Warriors 21-21 in the third set until South Winn went on a 4-0 run to finish out the match, 25-21.
“I thought we came out strong and did a lot of good things early to set the tone. We weren’t as sharp in our passing game, but our girls competed and finished out a tough third set when we faced some adversity,” said Coach Alex Smith.

   Abby Wagner was on target for six kills, three digs, one solo block and was 12-for-14 at the serving line with one ace. Katrina Hageman provided four kills and 10 digs, while Morgan Kleve had four kills and served 13-for-14 with five aces. Gabby Becker pounded down three kills. Handing out five assists apiece were Avery Luzum and Hailey Riehle. Luzum was 12-13 in serving with five aces as well. Leading the defense with 11 digs was Josie Hageman who also had five aces while going 11-for-12 in serves.
   The Warriors host Clayton Ridge Tuesday, Oct. 4, on senior night at 7:30 p.m.
