SW’s Holthaus puts up 17 pts.

By Becky Walz,

Class 1A No. 13 East Buchanan (5-1) was a buzzsaw for the South Winn girls’ basketball team (2-4, 2-2 UIC) on the road Thursday with the Buccaneers topping the Warriors, 74-26.
“They have a really good basketball team and could be dangerous come postseason. We competed very hard against them. I saw a lot of positives that we can grow on going forward. Our team defense was much better in the second half as well. We will use the second half to build on and get ready for NFV on Tuesday,” said Coach Justin Izer.
It was a big game for Alyssa Holthaus as she led the way with 17 points with five rebounds. Karissa Wenthold provided six points and three assists with Aubrey Willey contributed the other three points for the Warriors along with five boards.
South Winn is on the road again Tuesday against North Fayette Valley Tuesday, Dec. 12, then return home to take on Kee Friday, Dec. 15, with both games slated for 6:15 p.m.
