Thompson wins week one

In a week that saw some tough choices, it was a Decorah resident that came out on top in the first week of the Pigskin Picks football contest.
Jerry Thompson was the winner this week. Thompson was one of two people to miss three games last week. With his guess of 64 being the highest score of any one team, Thompson was just three away from the actual number of 67, scored by Kee. That guess edged him over Kyle Christen of Cedar Rapids, who also missed three games but had a tie-breaker guess of 57.
Six individuals missed four games, so it came down to the tie-breaker once again. This time, Kevin Schmitt of Fort Atkinson was right on the money with a guess of 67 as the highest team score.
Most commonly missed games were Waukon defeating Independence, Houston over Mabel-Canton and Iowa topping Iowa State.
