Trojan comeback falls short against Bulldogs

By Becky Walz,

Friday’s game plan didn’t go as planned as the Turkey Valley girls’ basketball team (11-5, 11-2 UIC) suffered its second conference loss of the season to MFL MarMac (10-5, 8-3 UIC) in Monona, 52-46.
It was off to a good start for the Trojans with a slim 11-10 lead after the first quarter that soon went away in the second period as the Bulldogs took the reins 24-23 at halftime. A 20-point Bulldog third quarter left the Trojans trailing 44-33 and put Turkey Valley in a hole that the Trojans had to scratch away in the fourth. In the final stanza, Turkey Valley was back within three, 44-41, with 5:17 left to play and was two points back, 48-46, but was left scoreless in the final 3:50.
