Trojan linksters get more experience

The Turkey Valley golf teams traveled to Pleasant Valley Sporting Club near Clermont for a UIC co-ed meet versus North Fayette Valley Thursday.
The TigerHawk girls outshot the Trojans 214 to 249. Medalist honors went to NFV’s Rayne Everett. Turkey Valley was led by Emma Hansen who carded a 57. Reagan Kime was close behind with a 62, with Tess Franzen carving out a 63. Freshman Mariah Throndson concluded the team score with a 67. Other Trojans on the course were Bella Gruenberg (70) and Megan Blong (76).
“The girls shot a season-low 249, so I really could not complain too much, especially since we were playing short-handed. Emma (Hanson) shot her low score of the year and was very consistent with her round, which was great to see,” said Coach John Reicks.
The Trojan boys fell to the TigerHawks 172 to 226. NFV’s Andrew Schmitt was the medalist with 41 on the par-36 course.
“We just did not play well at all. We looked unsure of ourselves at times. I know my kids can play much better. We just need to put this one behind us and look forward to a busy two weeks ahead,” said Coach Reicks.
Garrett Kurtenbach came through for the Trojans with 49. Caleb Kurtenbach and Cael Wickham carded identical 58s and Nelson Reicks completed the team score with 61. Other Trojans on the course were Rolin Schmitt (64), Lance Schmitt (71), Brody Hackman (79) and Braylen Byrne (84).
