With rain breaking up the week Wednesday, the Turkey Valley softball team (9-5, 7-1 UIC) swept Central Elkader Thursday and went 2-1 at the New Hampton tournament Saturday.
With rain breaking up the week Wednesday, the Turkey Valley softball team (9-5, 7-1 UIC) swept Central Elkader Thursday and went 2-1 at the New Hampton tournament Saturday.
Rescheduled
In doubleheader originally scheduled for Wednesday night, the Trojan were able to get on the diamond with Central (3-9, 3-5 UIC) Thursday in Elkader, sweeping the Warriors 7-1 and 16-12.
Game one came down to late runs with TV plating five runs in the sixth and adding one in the seventh for the win.
The Trojans had 10 hits in the game with Maici Weber, Olivia Snyder and Clare Courtney all having a multi-hit game. Courtney had three RBI and two stolen bases as well. Josie Weber struck out 14 Warrior batters for the win on the mound.
The nightcap was a hitter’s game with the two teams combining for 33 hits. Turkey Valley accounted for 17 of those with Olivia Drilling going 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI. Rapping out doubles for the Trojans were Kara Reicks. M. Weber and Courtney. Earning the win was J. Weber with six Ks.

Back on the diamond Saturday, the Trojans battled Denver, New Hampton and Nashua-Plainfield in a tournament held in New Hampton.
Turkey Valley started the day with a 6-3 win over Denver, before falling to the tourney hosts 18-6 in three frames. The Trojans rebounded to defeat Nashua-Plainfield 7-4.
