Going on the road in conference action, the Turkey Valley softball team (2-1, 2-0 UIC) swept MFL MarMac (3-6, 2-2 UIC) Monday night, 7-3 and 7-2.
After the Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Trojans got on the board with two in the third frame and scratched across the tying run in the fifth. Turkey Valley rallied stronger in the top of the seventh with four more to take the lead and held on in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

The Trojans had seven hits in the game. Josie Weber was 2-for-3, including a double with two runs scored and an RBI. Kara Reicks was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice, driving in a run and stealing two bases. Olivia Drilling also had a double, while Olivia Snyder and Halle Weber provided the other singles.
J. Weber was on the mound, giving up five hits and striking out 11.
The nightcap also went in Turkey Valley’s favor as they started the game strong with three runs in the top of the first and one in the third. MFL MarMac got a run back in the fourth. The Trojans tagged on three insurance runs between the fifth and sixth runs, holding the Bulldogs to a single tally in the bottom of the seventh.
The visitors pounded 10 hits. Clare Courtney rapped out a triple and had an RBI. J. Weber was once again strong in the batter’s box going 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and stolen base. Reicks and Aubrey Hoffert had two hits and drove in a run. Drilling, H. Weber and Alison Leibold all connected for hits.
Wednesday the Trojans were at Kee High before hitting the road to St. Ansgar Thursday, June 9, then are home for the first time Friday, June 10, versus Riceville at 5:30 p.m. The Trojans host Postville Monday, June 13, at 5:30 p.m.
