The Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (2-3, 1-3 UIC) made it look easy Friday night by defeating Clayton Ridge (1-4, 0-4 UIC) on the road, 44-26.
The Trojans kept the Eagles in single digit scoring for three of the four quarters, leading 19-8 at halftime. After the Red and White doubled up on Clayton Ridge in the third, outscoring the Eagles 12-6, the home team offense came alive to nearly even the Trojans’ fourth quarter efforts. However, it was too little, too late as the Trojans left Guttenberg with the victory.
Turkey Valley was balanced offensively with Logan Busta leading the way with 12 points. Russell Nieman and Oliver Schmitt each popped in 10 with Nieman adding nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. JD Kruse finished the night with six boards and three assists, while Cale Langreck also grabbed six rebounds.
The Trojans have a week wait until their next competition as West Central will visit Jackson Junction Friday, Dec. 15, for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
