The Turkey Valley baseball team (5-6. 5-1) picked up three wins early this week in conference action taking on MFL MarMac and Postville.
Two different games
The Trojans and Bulldogs split Monday’s UIC doubleheader in Monona with TV claiming the “W” in game one 9-5 before finishing game two in five frame, 10-0 in favor of MFL MarMac (4-7, 3-2).
“We had a gutsy effort in finding a way to win in the final inning of game one,” said Coach Dan Stepan. “In game two, we just couldn’t find enough runs.”
A pair of four-run innings gave TV the advantage it needed in game one behind the strong pitching finish of Oliver Schmitt. Kalvin Langreck was the big hitter of the contest with three hits, including one double and driving in five runs.
The nightcap belonged to the Bulldogs as the Trojans managed just four hits as Noah Hanson shouldered the loss on the mound with nine strikeouts.

Big numbers
Tuesday night was an early night for the Trojans with each of the doubleheader games called after three frames by way of mercy rule. Two big innings for TV propelled the Trojans over Postville (0-7, 0-7 UIC) by scores of 18-1 and 19-0.
In game one, the Trojans rolled through their line-up several times to score 16 runs in the opening frame to put the game out of reach for the Pirates early. It took three innings for TV to accumulate 19 runs and finish the second game. Once again, the Trojans had a double-digit inning, plating 12 runs in the second frame.
Collecting wins on the mound were senior Kalvin Langreck and freshman Oliver Schmitt. In all, the Trojans had 18 hits.
