Trojans cage Wildcats in fourth

After the January contest was postponed, the Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (11-10, 8-8 UIC) traveled to Riceville (8-13) Monday night, winning 65-52.

After the January contest was postponed, the Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (11-10, 8-8 UIC) traveled to Riceville (8-13) Monday night, winning 65-52.
The Trojans took a 19-17 lead after the first quarter. The teams combined for 19 points in the second, the TV staying on top 28-27 at halftime. They won the third quarter, 19-17 and extended their advantage in the fourth to secure the victory.
Dylan Reicks led the team with 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Three other Trojans were also in double figures including Carson Busta with 13, Garrett Kurtenbach with 11 and Chase Hayek with 10. Noah Hanson provided seven boards and seven assists.

Playoffs Monday night
Turkey Valley begins its road to state quest versus Clayton Ridge Monday, Feb. 14, at 6:30 p.m. at Wapsie Valley High School. If the Trojans can pull out the win, they will advance to the district semifinal versus the winner of the Wapsie Valley and West Central game.
