In the second meet last week, the Turkey Valley girls’ and boys’ track teams traveled to New Hampton for a co-ed eight-team invite Thursday night.
The Trojan girls finished fourth overall with 99 points, while the boys claimed 26 points in eighth place.
Girls’ recap
The Trojan girls had four events place first.
Jalyssa Blazek was victorious in both the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run.
Josie Weber, Cambree Kruse, Jaycie Byrne and Blazek crossed the finish line first in the 4×800, clocking in at 10:38.80. The quartet of Clare Courtney, Olivia Snyder, Byrne and Blazek won the sprint medley relay. Their time was 1:58.30.
Two other events — the 4×100 and 4×200 relays won silver. In the shorter relay Kara Reicks, Courtney, Kylie Wurzer and Olivia Snyder stopped the clock at 54.69 seconds. It was Courtney, Snyder, J. Weber and Byrne coming home in 1:56.83 in the 4×400 relay.
Best for the boys
It was the 4×200 relay which gave the Trojan boys’ a silver medal, the best finish of the night. Combining for a time of 1:38.20 was Kalvin Langreck, Marcus Herold, Dylan Reicks and Ryan Franzen.
TV also saw the 4×800 relay finish third in 9:11.66. Members of the team were Reicks, Langreck, Franzen and Calvin Bodensteiner.
Week ahead
The boys will take to the oval at Charles City tonight (Tuesday, April 20), at 5 p.m. Both teams will conclude the week at Kee High in a co-ed event Thursday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m.
