Trojans get best of Central

The Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (3-2, 2-2 UIC) picked up its third win of the season Tuesday night, defeating Central Elkader (1-5, 1-3 UIC) at home, 65-44.
The Trojans outscored the Warriors 18-8 after the first eight minutes. The lead was extended at halftime to 35-18.  TV tacked on six more onto the edge to make it 52-29 after the third period. Central attempted to stage a comeback in the fourth but was shut down by the Trojan defense.
TV had four players in double digits. Noah Hanson was 4-for-5 beyond the arc, totaling 15 points. Dylan Reicks put up 14 points, along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Garrett Kurtenbach had 13 points, 10 steals, eight assists and three boards. Adding 12 points and three rebounds was Calvin Bodensteiner.
This week concludes Friday, Dec. 17, at home versus West Central. The Trojans will be on the road Tuesday, Dec. 21, to take on South Winn in Calmar.
