Trojans grab 10th victory

Momentum is there for the Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team after the Trojans (10-7, 8-5 UIC) had one of its best games on the hardwood Tuesday, defeating Central Elkader (7-11, 4-9 UIC) at home, 60-45.
The Trojans took a 16-7 lead after the first quarter and led 29-18 at halftime. It was the third quarter that put the game away as TV outscored the Warriors 22-13 during that time.

   “We did what we had to do since we are playing five games in eight days trying to save legs. Caleb Kurtenbach and Carson Busta are shooting well right now. Our bench players are real important in this stretch and they played well,” said Coach John Izer.
   Individually, Caleb Kurtenbach was on fire, scoring 25 points. Calvin Bodensteiner had 13 points. Noah Hanson had a good game with seven points, seven assists and six rebounds.
   The Trojans will host Clayton Ridge in a make-up conference game Thursday, Feb. 2, then travel to Postville Friday, Feb. 3. The regular season wraps up at Kee High Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
