Trojans place eight at the top of the field at Kee

After a long list of cancellations, the Turkey Valley track and field teams had the perfect weather to compete on Thursday at Kee High. The Trojans returned to Jackson Junction with eight gold medals.

After a long list of cancellations, the Turkey Valley track and field teams had the perfect weather to compete on Thursday at Kee High. The Trojans returned to Jackson Junction with eight gold medals.

Five golds for boys
Four relays and one individual stood atop the podium Thursday night for Turkey Valley.
The sprint medley quartet of Carson Busta, Chase Hayek, Noah Hanson and Dylan Reicks set the tone for the night, winning the event in 1:41.68. It then was the distance medley relay’s turn to show the fans what they could do as they circled the oval in 3:53.37 for gold. Teaming up in the winning relay were Hanson, Ryan Franzen, Hayek and Reicks.
The 4×200 relay of Troy Schmitt, Garrett Dietzenbach Oliver Schmitt and Calvin Bodensteiner added their own gold in 1:45.10. O. Schmitt was the lone individual winner of the night for the Trojan boys as he topped the field in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.58.
Wrapping up the evening with a time of 3:46.35 in first was the 4×400 relay of Burke Busta, Hanson, Franzen and Reicks.

On top
Two individuals and one relay took the top spot in the girls’ competition. 
First to win gold was Jacqlyn Schmitt in the discus with a throw of 92 feet 2 inches. Jalyssa Blazek joined her in the win column as she sprinted down the track in 12.98 seconds to win the 100-meter dash. Later in the night the 4×200 broke the tape in 2:01.26. Members of the winning relay were Kara Reicks, Olivia Snyder, Kourtney Schmidt and Josie Weber.

Back on the track
The Trojans competed at Sumner-Fredericksburg Monday. The girls will return to action at Clayton Ridge tonight (Tuesday, April 26), while the boys will be on the track at Clayton Ridge Thursday, April 28. Both meets are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. The busy week concludes Friday, April 29, as the girls head to North Butler and the boys are at Starmont.
