Trojans start season at New Hampton

   There were highs and lows for the Turkey Valley volleyball team (1-1) Tuesday as it started with a triangular with New Hampton and MFL MarMac. 
Playing in New Hampton, the Trojans started the night in a battle with the Bulldogs (0-2), coming out on top 2-1 with set scores of 25-20, 18-25 and 15-12.

   Playing in New Hampton, the Trojans started the night in a battle with the Bulldogs (0-2), coming out on top 2-1 with set scores of 25-20, 18-25 and 15-12. 
Adriana Tiedt led the way at the net with seven kills, with Ryann Schmitt pounding down five. Seniors Brianna Busta and Jacqlyn Schmitt hammered out four apiece. Dishing out a team-high 16 assists, freshman Maici Weber also went 11-for-13 at the service line with three aces and had six digs. Defensively it was    Halle Weber and Clare Courtney there for 10 digs each.
   TV ended the night against the Class 3A No. 8 Chickasaws who dominated the nets to hand the Trojans a 2-0 defeat, 9-25 and 8-25.
   The Trojans were limited offensively in the nightcap, getting a total of just six kills, three coming from Tiedt to go with three digs. Busta had two, while R. Schmitt added the final kill. M. Weber and Mariah Throndson handed out three assists apiece.
   Turkey Valley will be at Riceville Thursday, Sept. 6, then compete in the Crestwood tournament Saturday, Sept. 10.
