Trojans stumble in triangular

By Becky Walz,

It wasn’t the start the Turkey Valley volleyball team (0-2, 0-0 UIC) was looking for as the Trojans competed in a triangular with MFL MarMac and New Hampton in Monona Tuesday, falling in both matches 2-0.
The night began with the Trojans facing New Hampton. Set scores were 10-25 and 21-25.
Facing the hosts, MFL MarMac Bulldogs, TV fared a bit better falling by sets of 19-25 and 23-25.
“Well, we had our first games and we didn’t end up as we wanted but saw a lot of good stuff on the court. This is a whole new mix of girls, and they are really learning to gel together to become team players,” said co-coaches Tammy Vrzak and Jackie Novotny.
Game statistics were unavailable for the New Hampton match at press time.
The Trojans are off until Tuesday, Sept. 7, when they host Riceville at 7:30 p.m.
