Following a disappointing loss to former coach and alum Monday night, the Turkey Valley boys’ basketball team (7-9, 5-7 UIC) punished Central Elkader Tuesday night for the split to start the week.
Sullivan returns to TV
The Trojans welcomed back alum and former coach Chris Sullivan to Jackson Junction Monday. Sullivan, now coaching Crestwood led his Cadets (6-9) to a 63-49 victory over Turkey Valley.
The Red and White were right there with the Cadets through the first half, trailing 18-15 after the first period and 34-26 at halftime. An evenly matched third period led to a stand-off in the final period, with Crestwood padding their score for the lead.
A trio of Trojans were in double digits including Dylan Reicks with 12 points, Garrett Kurtenbach with 11 and Calvin Bodensteiner with 10, along with eight rebounds.

Back on track
Returning to the court less than 24 hours later, the Trojans punished Central Elkader (1-13, 1-9 UIC) with a 54-12 thumping on the road Tuesday night.
TV outscored the Warriors 16-5, which would be the most points allowed by the Trojans in the game, as they led 24-8 at half. The lead stretched to 33-10 after the third.
G. Kurtenbach buried 16 points to go with three rebounds and three steals. Reicks put down 11 points, along with five boards.

Turkey Valley has another road game this week, as the Trojans travel to West Central Friday, Jan. 28. Next week, the Trojans will host South Winn Tuesday, Feb. 1.
