The Turkey Valley baseball team (3-8, 2-3 UIC) traveled to Waukon Monday, falling to the Indians (5-6, 1-5 NEIC) in a varsity twinbill, 3-2 and 5-1.
In game one, the Trojans got the bats swinging early with a run in the first; however, Waukon answered with three runs in the bottom half of the opening inning. Despite TV best efforts to erase the deficit, they were only able to get back within one with a run in the sixth frame.
The Red and White had five hits in the contest with Carson Busta and Bodensteiner tagging the ball twice for singles while Garrett Dietzenbach had the Trojans’ other hit. Bodensteiner drove in both of Turkey Valley’s runs.
Bodensteiner was the losing pitcher with Russell Nieman throwing two innings of relief.
Waukon struck early again in game two, plating three runs in the first and two in the second. That is all the Indians would need to defeat the Trojans who scored their lone run in the sixth stanza.
This time it was Noah Hanson shouldering the pitching loss in three innings of work with C. Busta and Chase Hayek also throwing.
Connecting for the Trojans’ six hits were C. Busta with a double, along with a pair of singles by Bodensteiner. Rapping out one hit apiece were Hanson, Oliver Schmitt and Hayek.
The Trojans hosted New Hampton Wednesday and then welcomes MFL MarMac to Jackson Junction Thursday, June 9, and Riceville Friday, June 10. Both contests are slated to start at 4 p.m. Monday, June 13, the Trojans are at South Winn beginning at 5 p.m.
