TV baseball tumbles down final stretch

It was a couple of rough games to swallow for the Turkey Valley baseball team (6-17, 6-9 UIC) as the Trojans fell to Dike-New Hartford and Kee late last week.

Non-conference road trip
The Trojans fell to Class 2A No. 9 Dike-New Hartford (21-5) on the road Wednesday, 8-3.
It was one big inning for the home team that did Turkey Valley in as D-NH plated six runs in the third inning, while the Trojans put up single tallies in the third, fifth and seventh frames.
Turkey Valley mustered 12 hits in the contest, while the Wolverines tallied eight. Garrett Kurtenbach went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Oliver Schmitt also had a double. Dylan Reicks, Kalvin Langreck and Garrett Dietzenbach all had two hits with Noah Hanson coming up with the other single for the Trojans.
Carson Busta suffered the loss on the mound.

In the league
The Trojans faced Kee (24-8, 14-2 UIC) Thursday in New Albin, getting shut out 6-0.
TV held their own early in the contest, allowing the Hawks to score one run in the first and another in the fourth. Kee had a big four-run fifth frame to extend its lead 6-0 and held it with ease.
Oliver Schmitt took the loss on the mound as the Trojans scraped out just two hits in the game — a double by Reicks and a single by Dietzenbach.
“We needed to find a way to score a few runs and just couldn’t get the job done,” said Coach Dan Stepan.
Kee had seven hits including a double by Tyson Cota. Landon Reams was effective at the plate with two singles and two RBI to go with a pair of stolen bases. On the hill, Jonah Reinke struck out eight Trojan batters for the win.

Wrapping it up
The Trojans have four games in three days to conclude the regular portion of their season. TV was at North Fayette Valley Monday and will travel to Postville Tuesday, July 6, for a make-up conference game at 7:30 p.m.
