Amid the eight-team field Tuesday in Guttenberg, the Turkey Valley girls’ track and field team was the runner-up to Sumner-Fredericksburg. Twenty points behind the Cougars, the Trojans posted a team score of 103.

Jacqlyn Schmitt was the first to top the field in the discus with a throw of 97 feet 5.5 inches. The junior also claimed bronze in the shot put with a heave of 29 feet 0.5 inch.
The sprint medley relay of Kara Reicks, Clare Courtney, Olivia Snyder and Jalyssa Blazek was nearly four seconds ahead of the rest of the field, winning in 2:00.83.
Blazek added two more titles to her night as she won a pair of sprints. The senior broke the tape in the 100-meter dash in 13.29 seconds and later added the 200-meter dash to her title belt in 27.70 seconds.
In the distance events, it was senior Cambree Kruse claiming two silver medals. Kruse crossed the finish line in 13:00.10 in the 3000-meter run and then posted a time of 6:12.81 in the 1600-meter run. The 4×800 relay was also a runner-up with a time of 13:33.00. Members of that squad were Delaney Busta, Halle Weber, Hailey Elsbernd and Adysen Wurzer.
Turkey Valley girls will be at North Butler Friday, April 29, at 4:30 p.m., and return to the track Monday, May 2, at the South Winn invitational at 4:30 p.m.
