By Becky Walz,
After sweeping South Winn earlier in the week, the Turkey Valley softball team (15-9, 11-1 UIC) traveled to Monona Wednesday, Crestwood Thursday and the Don Bosco tourney Friday. Saturday’s tournament at Decorah was cancelled due to heavy rain showers.
Caging the Bulldogs
The Trojans battled MFL MarMac (3-25, 3-10 UIC) Wednesday, putting a pair of tallies in the win column, 10-4 and 14-7.
TV took the early lead in game one, scoring four runs in the opening frame. The Trojans went on to plate at least one run in each of the next four frames, not allowing the Bulldogs to score until the bottom of the fifth. By the time MFL MarMac got the bats going, TV held a 10-3 advantage and allowed just one more run in the bottom of the seventh.
Josie Weber claimed the win in the circle. She went the distance, giving up five hits and fanning 14.
At the plate, TV rattled off 18 hits. Olivia Drilling went 3-for-3 with one RBI, while Jalyssa Blazek was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Aleah Hackman drove in four runs with two hits.
The Trojans doubled up the Bulldogs in game two, aided by a six-run second frame, scoring runs in five innings.
TV upped their hits in the nightcap, smashing out 22 hits. Kara Reicks, Blazek and Aubrey Hoffert went 3-for-5 in the batter’s box. Blazek only needed a home run to hit the cycle while driving in four runs. Hoffert had a pair of doubles and provided three RBI.

At Crestwood
On the field for the third time in four days, the Trojans stepped out of the UIC to play Crestwood (17-4, 10-2 NEIC) on the road, coming up short in the contest, 6-3.
Turkey Valley started strong with runs in the first and second before the Cadets pushed four runs home in the third inning. Crestwood added two in the sixth, while keeping the Trojans off the basepaths. One TV run in the seventh was only enough to cut the deficit in half as the Trojans suffered the loss.
Hackman took the loss in just over three innings in the pitcher’s circle with J. Weber stepping in for relief.
Reicks provided two of the Trojans eight hits, including a triple to go with two stolen bases. Hackman was 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, while Hoffert knocked out two singles.
