Turkey Valley senior Tess Franzen closed out her high school golf career with an appearance in the Class 1A Regional Final Wednesday, May 18, at Grundy Center, with a 122 on the day.
“Tess never quite got untracked and tallied rounds of 60 and 62. While I am sure she was disappointed in her play, her subpar performance does not take away from all her stellar accomplishments over the course of her high school eligibility. She showed promise as a freshman before losing her entire sophomore season to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bouncing back, Tess earned all-UIC honors both her junior and senior seasons culminating in a regional final performance in her senior season,” said coach John Reicks. “The lone senior on a young Turkey Valley girls’ golf team, Tess provided the leadership and skill set her young teammates could look up to and imitate. A true student/athlete, Tess always strived to do her best every time out and she will be greatly missed next season.”
