The Decorah girls’ basketball team (14-5, 8-1 NEIC) seem to be peaking with one week to play in the regular portion of the season, picking up two wins over the weekend.

Recognizing the seniors
Playing at home with a tribute to their senior members Friday night, Decorah took control over Waukon (10-7, 4-5 NEIC) early to best the Indians 62-37.
The Vikes were up 20-10 after the eight minutes and extended their lead to 34-21 by the half. Decorah poured in the points in the second half, outscoring the visitors 28-16 to close out the game.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.

On top
Saturday afternoon it was the second quarter that was key for the Vikings in the 50-45 win over Class 2A No. 11 Cascade (13-5).
Both teams started out strong with Cascade holding on to a slim 11-10 advantage in the first. Decorah rattled off 17 points in the second to pull ahead 27-23 at halftime. With the two squads having equal 12-point scoring in the third, it was up to the Viking defense to keep the Cougars in check in the fourth to seal the deal.
Individual stats were unavailable at press time.

Nearly the end
The Vikings were in action at the Wells Fargo Arena against Winterset Monday with their final regular season game of the season at Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m.
