Two close battles for Warrior matmen

The South Winn wrestling team finished 1-1 Tuesday night after a pair of close duals with Central Springs and North Butler-Clarksville. 

Central Springs edged the Warriors 42-39 when the last match was over. The Red and White rebounded from the loss to defeat North Butler-Clarksville 42-31.

The Warriors came away with seven victories in the Central Springs battle, including two forfeits. At 152 pounds, Zach Taylor threw Peyton Strouth in 3:40. Parker Timp followed suit by pinning Nick Goskeson in 4:57 at 160 pounds. Logan Hageman joined the pair with a fall in 1:21 over Ryley Meek-Mattson at 182 pounds. Class 1A No. 4 Damon Meyer had his first throw of the night in 1:44 over Colton O’Hern at 220 pounds. Collecting a 3-1 decision over Dalton Dewitt at 285 pounds was Ethan Timp. Picking up forfeits for SW were Aiden Feickert (106) and Bo Wangsness (113).

It was another seven wins for South Winn versus North Butler-Clarksville. Ethan Maldonado (126) was the first to get in the win column by throwing Zach McPherson in 20 seconds. At 160 pounds it was Lane Quandahl throwing Dawson Testroet in 3:36. It took Meyer 3:57 to put David Crow on his back at 220 pounds. Taylor picked up his second win of the night by a medical injury forfeit over MaKade Bloker. Chance Adam (138), Toby Conway (145) and Wangsness (113) all received forfeits.
