By Becky Walz,
It was raining touchdowns in Guttenberg Friday night as the South Winn football team (1-2, 1-1) crushed Clayton Ridge (1-2, 0-1), 53-19.
The Warriors scored 32 points in the first quarter alone en route to their first victory this season.
“The coaching staff made some adjustments this week and the players responded well. We played our best game to this point on offense, defense and special teams,” said Coach Jason Ohrt. “Keagen Streeter, Brady Ohrt and Parker Timp all ran the ball very well and our offensive line had their best night led by Jordan Baumler, Carlos Macario and Landon Garcia. Assistant coaches Payton Haynes and Mike Wenthold put together a solid game plan that the kids worked really hard on in practice this week.”

The run down
Under perfect fall football conditions, the Warriors got the offense going early that ended with Parker Timp plunging into the end zone from one yard out. The junior later plowed his way through the Eagle defense from three yards out to score again. Next, Brady Ohrt got the call, pushing his way through traffic from the three-yard line for a touchdown. Then it was time to go to the air as Ohrt found Jeremiah Cullen for a 35-yard pass that gave the Warriors a fourth TD. The first period ended with Ohrt racing 10 yards to the end zone again to give South Winn a 32-0 lead.
Keagen Streeter got his name called to carry the pigskin to the end zone in the second quarter on a 24-yard scamper. It was then Clayton Ridge’s turn for a score as the Eagles completed a 55-yard pass play to get on the board. South Winn countered with a touchdown of their own as Timp scored for the third time from the 1-yard line.
After the break, the Eagles went to the air again, passing for a 22-yard touchdown before freshman Braiden Todd connected with K. Streeter for the final Warrior score. Clayton Ridge put up one more touchdown in the fourth, but the Warriors had the win wrapped up.
A few stars
South Winn had seven athletes carry the ball, producing 350 yards on the ground. They added another 40 through the air.
K. Streeter was unstoppable, with seven carries for 179 yards. Ohrt had 80 yards on 10 carries, while Timp tallied 11 carries for 36 yards.
Defensively, Timp had seven solo tackles to lead the Warriors. Four other Warriors had three solo stops apiece including Todd, Brody Tieskotter, Kyle Kuboushek and Landon Garcia. South Winn recovered three fumbles with Kuboushek, Timp and Carlos Marcario each coming up with one.
