Vikes blast Denver in non-conference action, 93-38

The Decorah boys’ basketball team (13-1) picked up a signature non-conference win Tuesday night, defeating Denver (12-5) at home, 93-38.

The Decorah boys’ basketball team (13-1) picked up a signature non-conference win Tuesday night, defeating Denver (12-5) at home, 93-38.
“We are proud of the way our kids set the tone on the defensive end,” said Coach Jonathan Carlson. We need to continue our defense efforts we want to have scorers.”
Decorah took a 23-13 lead after the first quarter, then outscored the Cyclones 24-14 in the second. At halftime the Vikes led 47-27. Decorah put up 46 in the second half, holding Denver to 11.
Ben Bockman led the way, scoring 20 points. Trey McCain picked up 14 points for the Vikes while Carson Wemark contributed 13. Joe Bockman and Noah Storts had 12 a piece, while Jacob Pipho rounded out the double digit scorers with 10.
The Decorah boys will be in action at New Hampton Friday, Jan. 28, at 8 p.m., then travel to Dyersville Beckman Saturday, Jan. 29, at 4 p.m.
