“I’m so proud of these girls. What a way to end the regular season with a conference championship,” said Coach Shannon Quandahl.
The Vikings were strong from the opening tipoff. After falling behind 3-0 early, Decorah went toe-to-toe with the Go-Hawks as the two teams finished the first in a 10-10 tie. After Haley Gossman hit the first basket of the second period, W-SR rattled off five points for a 15-12 lead, however a Bryar Duwe trey tied the score back at 15-15 with 5:03 to play in the half. By halftime, Decorah held the 19-18 edge.
Decorah started the third period on a 11-1 run which led to a 33-26 advantage with a frame remaining. It was a parade of free throw shooters in the final quarter, which allowed Decorah to stretch the advantage as the Vikings converted on 9-of-10 free throws in the closing minutes.
