Decorah grapplers had a strong showing in the final week of the regular season, claiming a pair of home dual wins Thursday night and picking up a win at the Central Point-Urbana duals Saturday.

Double feature
Getting on the mats for the final time at home, the Vikes hosted a triangular with Charles City and Riceville Thursday, winning both duals. Decorah defeated the Comets 37-27 and Riceville 45-30.
Five Vikings managed to be double winners on senior night. At 113 pounds, Kollin Henry received a pair of forfeits. Lane Rolfs survived a sudden victory 5-3 to defeat Charles City’s Nathan Lopez and received a forfeit versus Riceville at 132 pounds.
Brady Stille (145) faced off with Talan Weber of Charles City and put the Comet on his back in 1:07 and later received a forfeit against Riceville. At 152 pounds, Brody Hanson faced a pair of opponents, defeating both. It was a 9-1 major decision of the Viking over Charles City’s Colton Anderegg. He also threw Marco Avila of Riceville in 3:11. Also, a two-time winner was junior Corbyn Palmer at 182 pounds. He pinned both opponents including Carter Burkhardt of Charles City in 1:34 and Anthony Houser of Riceville in 51 seconds.

Final tournament
Saturday, the Vikings hit the road to compete in a dual tournament at Center Point-Urbana, finishing the day with a 1-3 record. Decorah defeated Oelwein 54-30 and came up just short against the hosts, 34-39. The Vikes also squared off with Vinton-Shellsburg dropping the match 48-27 and West Delaware 69-9.
